Company is local to me and after a quick email back and forth they were able to arrange pickup. They had everything ready and were awesome! Thanks again to Bryan for making the arrangements! The mill itself is probably the highest quality product in my fleet of tools and I don’t see any possible issues that could arise from the use and abuse I’ll put it through. Wife loves it and we will be getting a second smaller one for easy of travel! Thanks again to the flower mill team!!!
Everything everyone is saying true, it's an astonishingly big difference. I'm really grateful to the odd lil stoner at my local shop who sold me on it...well done young man!
Just get one, there's zero chance for regret.
Fluffy fluffy fluffy fluffy such a fluffy head....
Seriously mind-blown. I spent my youth thinking there couldn’t be that much difference grinding herbs, be it with a cheap or expensive grinder. So I chose to spend my money on herbs instead of technology that would’ve saved me money…. On herbs.
Then, I grew up, and became a little wiser… Just a little… So, one day, finally accepting how much I hated grinding the herbs, I decided to try a more expensive grinder. And behold! I noticed a difference. So I started buying and trying out all kinds of grinders, and through it all, learned more and more about how different grinds worked, and how to better use them in different devices, which in turn, saves me herbs.
And then I reached the top of Mount Everest. The Flowermill. It’s beautifully designed, both aesthetically and mechanically. Everything fits together incredibly well. Nothing locks or sticks. The threads are just right! Barely any pressure is needed, and after a quick couple of back and forth turns, the herb is milled through so fast, it almost feels like you forgot to put a mill plate! Ok, maybe not that easy, but anyone who may have health issues that affect their hand strength and mobility, will find this grinder much easier and smoother to spin. The mill plates are sharp, clean, and the way they fit and are held in place, makes changing them a breeze.
The screen, though, was really unexpected. Took me a second to actually grasp how cool it is. And I’m guessing that, since extra screens are not offered for sale (at least I couldn’t find them. ), the screen will last a while! Did take me 5 minutes to figure out how to remove it. It’s not hard. It’s actually very easy. If you read instructions. This mill seriously looks, feels, and works, like one day it is meant to go to mars with the first colonizers!
Ok, so I didn’t even know there was suck a thing as “grinder wax”, or for that matter, that grinders needed wax. But since I was buying the grinder, and I’m a sucker for accessories, I bought the wax… I tried a bit on the grinder, but it being brand new, it doesn’t need it, and after using the grinder, I can’t imagine it ever needing it. I’m still mind-blown by how amazing the grinder is! Then I started reading the ingredients. It’s a crazy good combination, of all natural, food grade oils and waxes. Even has vitamin E! Well, my lips are constantly chapped. The temperature changes, my lips are horribly chapped. Well, decided to give this wax a shot. And I can honestly say it may be the best chapstick I’ve ever used! I know it’s an odd review, but it just felt worth sharing. On the bright-side, at least I didn’t share a before/after picture. ;)
I've owned maybe 4 different traditional grinders over the past decade or so, and they've all been quite decent, though somewhat tedious to use. You gotta break down buds to make them fit and can't put too much at a time, the teeth are a pain to clean, and the construction quality was never perfect.
The premium stainless Flower Mill, however, is awesome. For first impressions: The build quality feels *very* solid, the precision is impressive. The quarter-turn lower catch is very smooth and convenient. The magnetic lid is both neat and convenient. Overall presentation is quite nice.
As for usage, it's again awesome. Both the milling chamber and lower catch are quite deep, and the removable screen even gives you a little extra room if you're like me and don't have much use for separate kief. I don't have to break down or even touch the buds anymore. Just pour a couple into the chamber, put the lid on top, and grind.
And the grind is *so* easy and smooth, like ridiculously so. With traditional grinders, sometimes it felt like the flower would just never fully grind - getting stuck between the teeth or just being really tough to work through. But with the Flower Mill, it's seriously so easy and quick. It hardly even feels like it's grinding anything. Just apply a little pressure and turn back and forth, and after 5-10 seconds you've got perfectly ground flower.
Cleaning is also made easier than most grinders. Pretty much every piece of the mill comes apart thanks to some clever construction, and since the milling plate is just a flat disc rather than a bunch of teeth, it's way easier to clean.
I only have 2 minor complaints: The 2" – while very spacious, probably more so than my last 2.5" traditional grinder – is still a bit small to hold. It just feels a little awkward, and makes opening the lower catch require a little precision in how you hold it. I will likely upgrade to the 2.5" once they're back in stock.
My other issue is that I can't unscrew the rotor knob (the top piece of the milling chamber). Flower Mill provides a really handy video on how to clean your mill, which shows them unscrewing the rotor knob by hand, but I was completely unable to do this. I even resorted to trying to use pliers, but that still failed, and despite using a little padding I still wound up accidentally scraping the bottom outer lip of the lid. That part is my fault of course, but nonetheless due to how tightly screwed on the rotor knob.
However, that's it. Those are my only complaints. I never thought I was going to be wowed by a grinder/mill, but this is easily the best I've ever owned, and I will happily recommend this to everyone!
Hey Eric!
Thanks so much for taking the time to send in this thorough review!
I do want to apologise for the misunderstanding on the rotor removal. We need to get some updated product material out there as the cleaning video contains our Gen1 Premium not the Next Gen Premium you've purchased. The Gen1 Premium did employ a removable rotor but unfortunately that became quite problematic for many when trying to remove so we made the change to a permanently installed one which also better aligns with the rest of our products!
